Director of Dilijan National Park Charged for Shooting a Dog

The director of the Dilijan National Park, Suren Agajanyan, who is also the owner of a restaurant complex in Dilijan, has been charged in connection with a criminal case regarding the shooting of a dog within the premises of the restaurant. The charge has been filed under Part 1 of Article 258.2 of the Armenian Criminal Code, which pertains to cruel treatment of animals. This information was provided in response to a query from 'Haykakan Zhamanak' by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee.

A preventive measure in the form of a signature not to leave the country has been selected for Agajanyan. It is noteworthy that the incident occurred on December 1. A social media user reported that a dog residing at the 'Getap' restaurant in Dilijan was shot in front of four witnesses. The individual alerted the police, who then initiated preparations for an investigation.

Later, the advisor to the Prosecutor General, Gor Abrahamyan, informed that the materials prepared by the police were forwarded to the investigative division of the Tavush regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia with instructions to initiate a criminal case, conduct an inquiry, and carry out several urgent investigative actions within this framework. A criminal case was officially opened on December 3.

It is important to note that the restaurant owner apologized and subsequently stated that it was his own dog that had been shot because it had attacked people several times in recent days.
