Fight, Brawl, Stabbing in Yerevan Involving Over 10 Schoolchildren

A fight, brawl, and stabbing occurred in Yerevan yesterday. Around 19:05, a call was made to the police central division from the "Holy Mother of God" medical center, reporting that the ambulance team from Yerevan 1-03 had transported a boy with a diagnosis of "left lung injury, puncture wound to the back area, left shoulder puncture wound, left lung injury". According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the police operational group, led by division head Arman Papyan, was dispatched to the hospital.

Police determined that the injured party was a 16-year-old local resident, Artak B. While doctors were fighting for his life, the police in the Center, along with their colleagues from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, discovered that Artak B. was taken to the hospital from the yard of building 31 on Pushkin Street, where an unknown individual struck him with a sharp cutting object during a fight with his peer friend, Vitali A.

According to G. Shamshyan, that same day, police officers detained several residents of Yerevan on suspicion of causing bodily harm from Mashtots Avenue: 15-year-old Grant P., 17-year-old Suren S., 17-year-old Sergey D., 15-year-old Krist G., 16-year-old Edmond H., 16-year-old Robert G., 17-year-old Arsen Q., and 16-year-old Erik N. Hours later, officers from the Central Division's Criminal Investigation and Juvenile Affairs Departments apprehended Yerevan residents Vitali A. and 16-year-old Arsen A. from the yard of one of the buildings on Baghramyan Avenue. After some time, following explanatory work, 18-year-old David M. voluntarily presented himself to the police in the Central District.

Police established that on the same day, around 18:00, a dispute over personal issues arose among Artak B., Vitali A., Erik N., Robert G., Arsen D., Arsen A., David M., 15-year-old Rudik N., and 15-year-old Mher J. Preliminary information indicates that during the argument, one participant, whose identity has not been disclosed for investigative reasons, inflicted stab wounds on Artak B. A criminal case has been initiated at the investigative division of the Central Division regarding the incident. The police continue to conduct operational-investigative activities to clarify the circumstances and identify other participants in the brawl.
