New Unrest Among Drivers in Armenia: Gas Stations Charging More for Less
New unrest is brewing among drivers in Armenia. The issue is that a significant number of them have recently discovered that they are paying more than usual to fill their vehicles with natural compressed gas.
For instance, one driver told the 'Joghouvourd' newspaper that his vehicle has a '1.3 balloon', and after refueling, he has been charged 4300 or 4400 drams over the past two days, compared to the previous rate of 3600 drams. Another driver mentioned that he paid 6000-6300 drams while refueling yesterday.
Dissatisfied drivers believe that it's not the price of compressed gas that has increased, but rather that gas stations have begun to cheat by providing less gas and demanding more money.
It is worth mentioning that the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition is conducting inspections in the natural compressed gas market to determine the reasons behind the price discrepancies. Furthermore, the market regulatory inspection body will soon carry out unannounced inspections at gas stations and fuel stations.
