‘Hayastani’ Minister Arayik Harutyunyan Returns Former Republican Party Cadres

‘Hayastani’ newspaper reports: Recently, quite secretly and away from the media spotlight, a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia took place, attended in person by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan.

Surprisingly, the reappointment of the rector was not done directly but rather through an election, with a single candidate, Yeghiazaryan Vardanian. Vardanian is better known as the former rector of the Polytechnic University, closely associated with scandalous events involving Hovhannes Tokmajian, under whose tenure he served as head of the university staff and was reportedly a representative of the internal clan of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

Moreover, we learned that the rector’s position was also filled by another Republican (perhaps frozen), the former president of the student council of the same university, Hovsep Hoveyan, who was appointed as the first deputy of the rector. Incidentally, sources from the newspaper indicate that the young Republican had already ordered nameplates for his and Vardanian’s offices before officially being confirmed in these positions.

We also learned that Hoveyan is already engaged in filling the university with loyal personnel, which has angered the university staff, and it remains unclear what the future developments will bring.
