Being a Pediatrician is the Most Honorable Profession in the World: Armen Sarkissian Visits the Austrian Mother and Child Hospital in Gyumri
President Armen Sarkissian visited the Austrian Mother and Child Hospital in Gyumri today. The President toured the hospital and spoke with the medical staff. Highly appreciating their work, he emphasized that being a pediatrician is the most honorable profession in the world.
In the revitalizing Gyumri, four newborns entered the world last night. President Sarkissian presented gifts to the newborns' parents, congratulated them, and wished that the children bring joy to their parents, families, and Gyumri.
The President also met with young doctor and midwife Armen Mkrtchyan from this hospital, who had traveled to Sudan to replace Dr. Tom Catina, a recipient of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative award. The President welcomed his humanitarian efforts.
The Austrian Hospital in Gyumri has been operational since 1991, funded by the Republic of Austria. Since 2006, various surgeries have been performed here, and a modern, state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit has been established, equipped with innovative technologies.
