Ministry of Defense Signs 2.4 Billion Dram Contract with Company Linked to 'My Step' Coalition Candidate Roman Muradyan

On September 18 of this year, the Ministry of Defense signed a contract valued at 2 billion 389 million drams with the company 'Gaz Oil'. The company was established on June 28, 2019, just two and a half months prior to the signing of the contract.

Under the contract, 'Gaz Oil' is required to supply 4,779 tons of diesel fuel to the Ministry of Defense during the months of October to December. The company was selected as the supplier through an urgent open competition, according to Hetq.

According to the data from the register of legal entities, 'Gaz Oil' was established on June 28 of this year. Its sole owner is 27-year-old Mame Amiryan, an ethnic Yezidi. However, the actual owner of the company is Roman Muradyan, a candidate from the 'My Step' coalition in the 2018 parliamentary elections representing the Ararat region. Muradyan is not a member of the 'Civil Contract' party but is an ally.

"It’s my company. At the time it was being established, I was not in Armenia. I decided to open the company with my friend, Mame Amiryan. He is simply a Persian speaker and speaks Persian well, which was relevant when the contract was with Persia. We decided he would handle it until I returned," Roman Muradyan told Hetq in an interview.
