Armed Robbery Occurs in Kotayk Province

On December 6, an armed robbery took place in Kotayk Province. At around 17:20, three individuals, two of whom were masked and armed with pistols, entered a house located at 38 5th Street in the village of Mayakovski, where they committed a robbery against the homeowner.

According to Shamshyan.com from the scene, the assailants ransacked the residence, holding weapons to the elderly woman's head while demanding money and gold. The homeowner recounted, "I had gone to Abovyan to make purchases at the pharmacy, and when I returned home, I wanted to take my medication. They knocked on the door. I didn't open it at first; I asked who it was, and they responded from outside, ‘It’s us, dear.’ Honestly, without suspicion, I thought they might be from the electricity company or somewhere else, so I opened the door. As soon as I opened it, two masked individuals pointed their guns at me and entered the house. They continuously demanded I keep quiet, threatening to kill me if I didn't reveal where the gold and money were. I told them I was just a pensioner, but they turned the whole house upside down and stole several pieces of jewelry and cash, taking them with them. When they left, they cut the phone line so I couldn't call for help."

A police operational group from the Kotayk regional police arrived at the scene. By the decision of the head of the Kotayk regional investigative department, M. Vardanyan, an investigative group has been formed. Police and investigators from the Kotayk region are undertaking necessary operational and investigative actions to uncover the crime, identify the perpetrators, and recover the stolen items and the tools used in the crime.
