Over 20 Cases of Vehicle Thefts Revealed

As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions carried out by the Investigative Committee of Armenia in the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan, more than 20 cases of thefts and attempts to steal from vehicles in the Ajapnyak district have been uncovered.

The preliminary investigation has been completed concerning two residents of Yerevan. According to the data obtained during the investigation, a Yerevan resident born in 1980, in agreement with a 31-year-old resident of Yerevan and another 39-year-old resident, used an 'Opel' car, provided by the latter, to visit various streets in the Ajapnyak district during January-February 2019. They committed the acts sequentially, breaking the windows of parked vehicles to steal gas cylinders and other items, while in some instances, they were unable to complete the crime due to unforeseen circumstances.

It was also revealed that one of the 39-year-old men and the 31-year-old man committed vehicle thefts and attempted thefts between November and December 2018.

Based on a sufficient combination of evidence, one of the 39-year-old men has been charged under the RA Criminal Code, Articles 38-177, Part 2, Point 1 (5 episodes), 38-34-177, Part 2, Point 1 (8 episodes), 38-177, Part 2, Points 1 and 3 (3 episodes), 38-34-177, Part 2, Points 1 and 3, and 38-177, Part 2, Point 3, as well as 38-34-177, Part 1 (2 episodes). A signature not to leave has been chosen as a preventive measure against him.

The other 39-year-old man has been charged under Article 177, Part 2, Point 1 (6 episodes), 34-177, Part 2, Point 1 (10 episodes), 38-177, Part 2, Point 3, and Article 177, Part 2, Points 1 and 3 (3 episodes), as well as 34-177, Part 2, Points 1 and 3. He has been subjected to pre-trial detention as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation concerning the two 39-year-old men has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor overseeing the legality of the preliminary investigation with an accusatory conclusion.

A 31-year-old resident of Yerevan has been charged with 37 episodes of secret theft of another's property and attempted theft, with pre-trial detention selected as a preventive measure against him, and he has been declared wanted. The preliminary investigation of the separated part of the criminal case continues, and necessary measures are being taken to locate the wanted person, as well as potential other individuals who may have committed the alleged crime.
