Changes in the Procedure for Importing Goods via Carrier or International Postal Deliveries
The State Revenue Committee informs that starting from January 1, 2020, there will be changes in the procedure for importing personal use goods into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union via carrier or international postal deliveries.
In particular, according to the decision No. 107 of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission dated December 20, 2017, from January 1, 2020, personal use goods can be imported into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union without payment of customs duties and taxes if their value does not exceed the equivalent amount of 200 euros, and (or) the weight (in the case of international postal delivery - the gross weight) does not exceed 31 kilograms.
In fact, for goods imported by individuals from non-member states through carriers or international postal deliveries into the territory of the Republic of Armenia, from January 1, 2020, customs duties and taxes will be paid at a uniform rate of 0% if the total weight of the transported goods does not exceed 31 kilograms, and their value does not exceed the equivalent of 200 euros in Armenian dram. However, if the total weight exceeds 31 kilograms, or the value exceeds the equivalent of 200 euros in Armenian dram, customs duties and taxes must be paid on the exceeding part at a uniform rate of 15%, but not less than the equivalent of 2 euros in Armenian dram for each kilogram exceeding 31 kilograms.
From January 1, 2020, the restrictions on the frequency of imports of personal use goods by individuals through carriers or international postal deliveries without payment of customs duties and taxes will also be lifted.
The SRC reports that in connection with the changes, customs authorities will strengthen control aimed at determining the actual value of goods.
