Armenian Referee Receives Applause for His Flip at the National Championship
In the final of the Greco-Roman wrestling championship in Armenia for the 87 kg weight class, the actions of the mat referee became the foundation for a crucial decision in the match. Attempting to accurately assess the wrestlers' positions or a clean victory (awarded when one wrestler's shoulders make contact and are held on the mat), mat referee Albert Vardanyan performed an impressive flip to signal Maxim Manukyan's victory over Albert Yegikyan, earning applause alongside the winner.
The championship, which featured 82 wrestlers, was held from December 3-4.
