Arajik Harutyunyan Should Have Met with Youth Today If He Were Within His Authorities: Artsvik Minasyan

When young people demanded a meeting with Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arajik Harutyunyan and attempted to enter, there was a police provocation, and that is my initial assessment, after which force was used. This was stated by Artsvik Minasyan, a member of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.

“The answer to this should be given by both law enforcement agencies and responsible individuals occupying public positions who display such attitudes towards Armenian youth. The actions of the young people were not illegal. If the actions taken by the current government were considered legal at that time, why should the actions of their opponents now be deemed illegal?” noted Minasyan.

Speaking about Arajik Harutyunyan's statement regarding a large number of criminal cases, Artsvik Minasyan highlighted, “He is making statements of a person unaware of his authorities. If a person were within his authorities, he should have met with the youth today at the very least. Arajik Harutyunyan’s statements are situational. After today’s actions, a minister’s name should not be associated with a person demonstrating such behavior.”

It is noteworthy that the youth of the ARF were demanding a meeting with Minister Arajik Harutyunyan in front of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports building. Following this, police forces took 24 individuals into custody on charges of failing to comply with a legitimate request of the police as per Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
