VIDEO: How Can Consumers Distinguish Between Store Receipts and Cash Register Receipts? - State Revenue Committee

The State Revenue Committee has released an informational video explaining the differences between cash register receipts and those printed by other devices. Citizens often find themselves confused about whether the receipts provided by stores or other business entities are issued from cash register machines or from other devices.

Although they may look different from the 'classic' receipts, that does not automatically mean that the receipts are fraudulent. The SRC informs that the legislation of the Republic of Armenia allows business entities to integrate external or commercial programs with the cash register software, resulting in receipts being issued through devices different from a cash register.

Receipts printed in this manner can have various appearances, for example, they may be wider or longer. However, to be considered a cash register receipt, it is mandatory that they reflect the data specified in Article 381, Part 3 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Armenia.

Consumers should pay particular attention to the unique eight-digit number of the receipt (CR), the taxpayer's identification number (TIN), which must have at least 8 digits, the name of the business entity, and the registration number of the cash register (RN), which must also have at least 8 digits.

It is important to know that cash register receipts also have a unique fiscal number, consisting of 8 digits, which is generated by a special algorithm developed by the tax authority. If the receipt does not have a fiscal number, there is a high risk that it was not printed in fiscal mode. Therefore, information about such receipts is not transmitted to the tax authority's information system.

By being aware of all this, consumers can distinguish cash register receipts from others by checking for the required data. Citizens can report cases of receiving incomplete receipts from businesses to the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
