VIDEO. I Am Surprised How Gevorg Kostanyan Led the Prosecutor's Office: Kocharyan

Former Chief Prosecutor Gevorg Kostanyan was given a 48-hour reasonable timeframe to appear before the investigative body, but he announced that he has no intention of coming.

This was stated today, November 29, in a conversation with journalists by Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the 'My Step' faction in the National Assembly. 'I am surprised how a person who previously held the position of RA Chief Prosecutor can disregard the decision of one of the most important state institutions. I do not understand how he used to supervise criminal cases. Probably in the same way he is treating this criminal case, which is very important for our state,' he noted.

Kocharyan assumes that Kostanyan is not coming because he 'knows the volume of material concerning him in the criminal case and the content of the charges.' The deputy also believes that the former chief of police of Yerevan, Ashot Karapetyan, who died in yesterday's explosion, could have provided important testimony on the 'March 1' case if the trial had started. 'But you can see that the tactical steps taken by Robert Kocharyan and his legal team are leading to the postponement of the trial as much as possible. The longer the delay, the more important elements are missing from this criminal case. In this regard, of course, there is regret regarding the death of Ashot Karapetyan; every loss of human life is tragic. I myself called on the judge a day earlier to find a way to start the trial process quickly.'
