The Question of the Minister of Education's Resignation Reaches the National Assembly

The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) has recently sent a written request to the Bright Armenia Party (BAP) and the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) proposing the dismissal of Araik Harutyunyan. According to our information, the factions have examined the proposal and are likely to respond in writing to the ARF.

Although each faction has the legislative ability to express a lack of confidence in the minister, both the BAP and the Bright Armenia Party are faced with the technical impossibility of resolving the issue during this session. The matter is that this process is time-consuming, as the law provides for a two-week deadline to first send inquiries to the government, after which a no-confidence motion must be presented to the parliament. Meanwhile, the last four-day session of this session is scheduled for December 3.

According to our sources from the Bright Armenia Party, they are completely deprived of this possibility, as the rules allow a faction to present only one no-confidence motion during a session, and the Bright Armenia Party has already presented one regarding Jhanjughazyan. Therefore, the factions are likely to respond that they will discuss Harutyunyan's issue in the next session.
