Court Refuses to Accept Navalny's Foundation Lawsuit Against Putin

The Moscow Tver Court has rejected the administrative lawsuit filed by opposition figure Alexei Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation against Russian President Vladimir Putin. This information was reported by meduza.io.

According to court spokesperson Olga Bondareva, under the Constitution, claims directed against the President of the Russian Federation cannot be accepted within the framework of an administrative lawsuit. She stated, 'Thus, the administrative claim is not subject to acceptance, as it violates the fundamental principles of the separation of powers within the territory of the Russian Federation.'

The Anti-Corruption Foundation had filed the lawsuit on November 21 against Putin in connection with a money laundering case involving the foundation. Navalny has indicated that the foundation considers Putin to be the organizer of the criminal prosecution and is demanding that the President's actions be deemed illegal.

Previously, in 2017, Navalny had also filed a lawsuit against Putin due to the refusal of regional authorities to permit protest rallies. The Tver Court had rejected that lawsuit as well.
