Construction of Armenia-Iran Railway to Bring Economic Revolution
The construction project of the Armenia-Iran railway is being explored by the Iranian side through two concurrent initiatives. Mohsen Narimani, the executive director of the Aras Free Economic Zone, shared this information during a conversation with Armenian journalists in the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Armenpress.
“Through the construction of the Armenia-Iran railway, we aim for Iran to connect to Europe via Armenia and Georgia. We are confident that the implementation of this project will bring a significant economic revolution. At this stage, we are still studying the project, which is in the practical examination phase, and we are certain that after this, we will move on to practical steps. The best proof of all this is that recently our Minister of Road and Urban Development met with his Armenian counterpart to discuss the project. A practical proposal has been put on the table, according to which Armenia will undertake 30 percent of the construction of the railway, while the remaining 70 percent will be upon Iran,” Narimani noted.
According to him, the realization of the project requires joint efforts from both countries and is essential for strengthening their economic relations.
