About 30 Italian Enterprises Will Soon Arrive in Armenia
Besides participating in the Armenian-Italian business conference titled "Armenia, New Reality: A Gateway to the Eurasian Market" in Milan, the Armenian delegation also had a significant meeting with the leadership of the Lombardy region. This was stated by the Armenian Ambassador to Italy, Victoria Baghdasaryan, in a press briefing with journalists in Italy today.
She emphasized that this was particularly important, noting that Lombardy accounts for about 22 percent of Italy's GDP, approximately 368 billion euros. Baghdasaryan announced that Lombardy is willing to work with Armenia.
According to her, we will soon see about 30 enterprises coming to Armenia: "We will identify the sectors in advance; around 30 enterprises will come because Armenia is an interesting market today, especially for entering the EAEU."
The ambassador also highlighted the success of the business forum, mentioning that around 150 enterprises were present, and there was no space left in the room. The business forum was organized by the embassy in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy through a company that deals with external commerce and supports Italian enterprises in accessing international markets: "We organized it with 'Ice' and 'Aso Lombardia,' which is an association of some enterprises in the Lombardy region. In any case, I hope to hear from specific investors."
When asked whether the 30 companies are coming to study the Armenian market or for specific investment purposes, the Armenian ambassador responded that they are indeed studying the market. However, she mentioned that the head of Lombardy only indicated that about 30 organizations will come to Armenia, with interest particularly in the fields of information technology, energy, transport, and infrastructure.
At the same time, the ambassador emphasized that the first important factor is that there is interest, and as a result, there are also opportunities for proposals.
Baghdasaryan also stated that the Velvet Revolution in our country has contributed to a collaborative environment. According to her, Italian media outlets are currently flooded with information about the Prime Minister's visit to Armenia: "Not only has the economic revolution received a response, but this visit also carries significant political weight," said the ambassador, also recalling Prime Minister Pashinyan's visit to the Island of St. Lazar in Venice as an important gesture of support.
When asked whether the Italian government would support the restoration of damages caused by the flood on St. Lazar Island, Victoria Baghdasaryan responded that two days ago, the Italian parliament adopted a law regarding the disaster, according to which Italy will help restore buildings of several organizations, and thankfully, St. Lazar Island is included in that list.
Regarding cultural life, the Armenian ambassador disclosed that an opening of a statue of Hovhannes Tumanyan is also planned in Rome in the park opposite the presidential palace. The ambassador mentioned another important project but did not reveal details, noting that it is a surprise.
