I Know They Will Target Me Soon: Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine Has Sued Host Gohar Hayrapetyan

Host Gohar Hayrapetyan wrote on her Facebook page: “What I am about to write is very personal. I do not like to talk about this topic. My father, a talented geologist who graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, calculated the reserves of gold and molybdenum. He worked at the Sotk gold mine. My father died of cancer when my sister and I were just 1 year old. This has left a deep mark on my entire fatherless childhood and adolescence. Later, almost all of my relatives on my father's side who lived in Kapan and Kajaran also died of cancer. Now, the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine has filed a lawsuit against me for one statement I made during the program 'Who Are the Real Owners of Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine.' I claimed that the mines are plundering the subsoil, leaving us with tailings as a 'gift.' A lawsuit has also been filed against '1in News.'

It is known that during our broadcasts, we have repeatedly addressed the issues of mines, the terrible damage caused by tailings, and their consequences. Thus, an attempt is being made to silence a media outlet that raises these issues and does not engage in deals with the mines and the owners and shareholders behind them. For very understandable reasons, a process has begun – the mines have decided to declare war on independent media that they cannot silence.
