Falsifications Confirmed: Vladimir Karapetyan Comments on Pashinyan's Assessment of the 1996 Elections
During a meeting with the Armenian community at the church building in Milan on November 20, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated, "All leaders have been evils since 1996, when they seized power without the people's trust." Numerous pieces of evidence have emerged in the media indicating that falsifications occurred.
This was expressed by the Prime Minister's spokesperson, Vladimir Karapetyan, in an interview with news.am.
Karapetyan avoided directly answering whether he agrees with Pashinyan's assessment, stating, "It is known that falsifications occurred; this is a well-documented fact. Remember what the situation was like at that time—how many representatives were in the commissions from the government and how many from the opposition. There are many facts, at least from the media I have read, that there were indeed falsifications. I have heard many cases where actions were taken by the committee members; such information exists. There’s nothing new here," he said.
