‘Zhamanak’: Manakhi Armeni's Patron is Awarded
‘Zhamanak’ newspaper reports: President Armen Sarkissian has awarded the Deputy Head of the Special Investigative Committee, Hovhannes Yenokyan, with the Mkhitar Gosh Medal for his contributions to the strengthening of the rule of law and legality. This award is quite unusual, even absurd, as the press has repeatedly reported on this official's unlawful behavior. It has been mentioned that he has close ties with criminal authorities and various notorious figures. Hovhannes Yenokyan is considered to be the protégé of wealthy Armenian businessman Armen Ginosyan, known as Manakhi Armen. It was under Ginosyan's 'approval' that Yenokyan was appointed as the Deputy Head of the Special Investigative Committee after the revolution. Yenokyan also maintains close relationships with Vahagn Harutyunyan, the former head of the investigative group of the March 1 case. Reports have also emerged about how Yenokyan secretly provided investigation materials related to the March 1 case to Harutyunyan and others. After all this, instead of being removed from the system, he is being awarded.
