Changes in Electricity and Gas Tariffs Not Expected for Now: Baghramyan

The Public Services Regulatory Commission is currently discussing the main issue related to the timing of repairs at the Armenian nuclear power plant. In a conversation with reporters, the head of the commission, Garegin Baghramyan, stated that there is a need to clarify the timeline for the plant's repairs in 2020, specifically how many days the nuclear power plant will be offline for maintenance.

“As you know, every year it goes offline for refueling and maintenance, but in the last 2-3 years, those outages have been longer due to the extension of the plant's operational lifespan. Now, the final schedules for those works are being clarified, based on which it will be determined how long the plant will be out of service. As a result, we will have an overall balance, which is a key factor in shaping electricity tariffs. I believe sufficient resources will be found to keep the current prices unchanged,” he noted.

Addressing the price of gas, Baghramyan stated that the gas price will remain the same until April. “As Deputy Prime Minister Grigoryan has informed, such an interim decision has been made as a result of negotiations, while the main long-term tariff plan is still under discussion. A lot depends on the price set for gas at the border,” he added.
