An Elderly Woman and a 9-Year-Old Boy Were Involved in a Fatal Hit-and-Run

Today, on November 20, a fatal hit-and-run occurred in the Gegharkunik region. At around 6:20 PM, the driver of an unknown make and model car struck two pedestrians in the administrative area of the village of Lichq along the Sevan-Martuni-Gegham Highway, leaving them helpless and fleeing the scene.

According to Shamshyan.com, the elderly woman involved in the incident died on the spot, while the 8-9-year-old boy was transported to the Martuni medical center.

Authorities from the Gegharkunik regional police department arrived at the scene. Police discovered that the deceased was 66-year-old Sonik Sayadyan, a resident of the village of Lichq, and the injured boy is her brother's son.

A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative department under Part 2 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code. The police and investigative department are conducting necessary operational-investigative and investigative joint actions to determine the complete details of the deceased, the injured, and the driver who fled the scene, as well as to locate the vehicle.
