Alert: Dog Shot in Downtown Yerevan
An incident of illegal use of firearms against an animal has been recorded in downtown Yerevan, at 22 Vardanants Street, reports Econews.am.
According to citizens, they heard the dog's whimpering, then approached and saw the bleeding animal. The dog had been sterilized by the Yerevan municipality and bore a tag on its ear. Residents noted that the animal was accompanied by a homeless individual when the incident occurred.
EcoNews.am has contacted the Armenian police, who stated, “On November 16 at 17:10, we received a call from a citizen reporting that a dog had been shot at 22 Vardanants Street. At this moment, verification actions are being carried out in response to the alert. The police will investigate all circumstances related to this incident.”
It should be noted that the use of firearms in residential areas and in non-designated places is illegal, and such actions pose numerous dangers to people as well, representing a violation of public order and a public safety concern.
The animal is currently receiving treatment at the “Vet Land” veterinary clinic, where it has undergone X-ray examination, clearly showing the mark of the bullet. The bullet struck the dog's spine directly.
