After the Armenia-Italy Match, Sports Websites Recall Record Football Scores

Following the Armenia national team's 1-9 defeat, many sports websites today were delving into history, trying to recall large and record football scores.

It turns out that the largest official score recorded in the world was in Madagascar. In 2002, the national championship match between "Adema" and "Stade Olympique L’Emyrne" ended with a score of 149-0. The players of "Stade Olympique L’Emyrne" were instructed by their coach to continuously score into their own net, protesting against the referees' decisions, while the players of "Adema" simply stood by and watched their opponents' actions. This football score later made it into the Guinness World Records, and the coach of "Stade Olympique L’Emyrne" was banned for three years.

In terms of genuine competitive conditions, the record score was set in Scotland in 1885. In a cup competition, "Arbroath" beat "Bon Accord" with a score of 36-0. It is worth noting that the game was not fixed, and no intentional loss was recorded. That is why this score is considered the world record for official matches.

In World Cup history, the largest score was recorded in 1982 when the Hungary national team defeated El Salvador 10-1. In the Champions League, the record score was set on November 22, 2016, when Borussia Dortmund triumphed over Legia Warsaw with a score of 8-4.
