Customs House Business of ‘Smart Citizens’ Stopped: Ananyan

The head of the State Revenue Committee, David Ananyan, confirmed today that after the relocation of the customs house, 'smart citizens' had devised a new form of business. They were removing the license plates from vehicles, standing in line, and selling their 'places' in the morning.

According to Ananyan, they have alerted law enforcement about this issue, and the problem has now been resolved.

It should be noted that Auroranews received numerous calls from citizens who reported on the problem. The media regularly informed the press secretary of the State Revenue Committee, who had noted that they were aware of the issue, but enforcement was the responsibility of the police.

Additionally, at the end of November to early December, the State Revenue Committee plans to announce that vehicles imported from Georgia will be processed at the customs house in Gyumri. David Ananyan stated this today. He explained that previously, only vehicles that arrived in Gyumri on their own were being cleared there.

Starting today, according to Ananyan, vehicles transported by trailers will also be cleared at the customs house in Gyumri in the same manner. Soon, containerized vehicles imported into Armenia will meet the same fate.

As for the Noragavit customs house, Ananyan indicated it will operate until the end of the year to clear the vehicles that have accumulated in Yerevan.
