Arayik Harutyunyan: Those Who Struggle in School Will Also Struggle in University

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Arayik Harutyunyan, met with university professors and a group of protesters demanding his resignation. During the meeting, the minister emphasized that Armenia is an independent and sovereign state.

“People say they don't remember who taught them a particular subject. There are not significant differences in the educational system; as poor as the school is, the university will be just as poor. Those who struggle with Armenian in school will also struggle with it in university,” he stated.

Harutyunyan noted that the issue of the testing system has yet to be discussed and expressed surprise at why there have been no strikes or protests on this topic until now. According to the minister, the political force that is in power has defended many laws that the protesters and some professors have not supported.
