Can Members of Parliament Be Wiretapped or Not? Melkumyan Asked for Clarification
During the discussion of another draft in the National Assembly, leveraging a mention of wiretapping, BHK MP Mikael Melkumyan requested clarification on whether MPs can indeed be wiretapped or not, and whether it is permissible to do so.
Deputy Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan explained that if there is no court decision, it is impossible to conduct such actions. Furthermore, for a court decision to be issued, the person being wiretapped must at least be suspected of committing a crime.
According to the deputy minister, the suspected crime must be a serious offense; otherwise, permission for wiretapping will not be granted.
