Tandilyan Proposes Mayors and Community Leaders to Declare Their Assets
LHK faction member Mane Tandilyan today presented her initiative to the National Assembly, proposing that the leaders of all urban and rural communities in Armenia declare their assets in the same way that other officials do.
The current regulation stipulates that only the leaders of communities with populations exceeding 15,000 are required to submit declarations. As a result, according to Tandilyan, only 19 out of 502 community leaders in Armenia are filing such declarations, which poses a risk of corruption.
If the lawmaker's proposal is adopted, this threshold will be removed, and all community leaders and their relatives will be required to report their income and assets.
The deputy's initiative received positive feedback from the other two factions in the National Assembly.
