Is a New Phase in Armenian-Turkish Relations Beginning? Lavrov's Statements Were Not Incidental

The newspaper “Fact” reports that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan and then laid flowers at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.

During a joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister, Lavrov addressed the negotiations regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, stating that “without the people of Artsakh, it will be impossible to formulate any agreement. Armenia simply will not sign.”

Interestingly, Lavrov also touched on a very important subject that holds significant relevance for Armenia: the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. He noted, “We support the overcoming of existing issues between Armenia and Turkey in every possible way, and in 2010 we actively contributed to the signing of the Zurich protocols.”

Sources from the “Fact” newspaper assert that the topic has not been raised by chance. According to information, following Lavrov's visit, various expert circles will begin circulating approaches related to a new process for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
