We Didn't Have an Editor: YSU Spokesperson on Not Covering the Revolution

Students from the Faculty of Philology and History at Yerevan State University (YSU) have been demanding the resignation of Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Arayik Harutyunyan and conducting a strike for several days now. This student action has been covered on YSU's Facebook page, receiving a passionate response in the comments.

Many commenters noted that the actions during the Velvet Revolution, which nearly 80 percent of students participated in, were not reported on the YSU page, regarding it as a directed maneuver.

YSU spokesperson Gevorg Emin-Terjanian stated in an interview with ArmDaily.am that he considers it normal to cover these actions: "I believe we are obligated to report on all events occurring within YSU." Addressing the comments regarding the lack of coverage of the revolution, Emin-Terjanian said, "We have always reported on such events. I had just started working at that time, and we didn't have an editor, which is why we didn't release videos. However, we have covered it in other ways. I began my job on March 1 and tried to apply my principles in the workplace. Initially, this met with considerable resistance, but later everyone understood that this is the correct way to work. The university must inform what is happening on its campus."
