The LHK Proposes Compensation for Servicemen with Third Group Disability
On November 11, a discussion took place in the Armenian National Assembly's Permanent Commission on Defense and Security regarding a bill presented by LHK faction deputy Mane Tandilyan. However, the bill was not put to a vote. The proposed amendments aim to change the law on 'Compensation for Damage to Life or Health of Servicemen During the Defense of the Republic of Armenia' to include compensation for individuals with third group disabilities.
Author of the bill, Mane Tandilyan stated, 'Our proposal will not jeopardize the stability and sustainability of the fund.' According to the justification, the funds currently being raised by the foundation exceed the amount of allocations already made. The foundation is a constantly operating entity and has accumulated significant obligations for the upcoming twenty years.
Currently, the foundation has collected approximately 17 billion drams, while compensation payments over the past 2.5 years have only amounted to 1.2 billion drams. Thus, the proposed amendment is indicated not to endanger the financial stability of the fund. Furthermore, one of the articles of the law under discussion also proposes an increase in the range of beneficiaries and compensations based on the results of the financial activity.
The commission postponed the voting on the issue to the next session, allowing the government more time to familiarize itself with the detailed numerical data.
