Murder of 39-Year-Old Resident in Lori Region Revealed After Multiple Strikes

The Lori regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee has uncovered several circumstances surrounding the death of a 39-year-old resident of the village of Lernahovit.

A 36-year-old man has been charged in the case.

According to preliminary data, a 45-year-old resident of the town of Tashir reported that on June 4, 2019, around 00:30, several individuals approached his cousin, the 39-year-old resident of Lernahovit, and attacked him due to previously arisen disagreements, inflicting multiple blows to various parts of his body with their hands and feet before fleeing the scene.

The report states that after the incident, the brothers went home and spent the night there, where the 39-year-old man later died.

On June 4, 2019, a criminal case was initiated in the Stephanavan investigative department of the Lori regional investigative department based on the features of Article 112, part 2, points 6 and 14, and Article 118 of the RA Criminal Code.

During the preliminary investigation, a number of urgent investigative and procedural actions were also carried out, specifically examinations of the scene and the body, the seizure of video recordings from surveillance cameras located near the scene, and interrogations of several witnesses.

To clarify significant circumstances of the criminal case, forensic medical and genetic examinations, as well as forensic and investigative analyses were appointed.

On November 7, 2019, the alleged perpetrator, a resident of the city of Stepanavan born in 1983, appeared before the prosecuting authority and provided testimony regarding the incident. On the same day, the 36-year-old man was arrested.

Based on the combination of sufficient evidence, he has been charged under the features of Article 112, part 2, points 6 and 14 of the RA Criminal Code, and his detention has been selected as a preventive measure.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to ensure an objective, complete, and comprehensive examination of the circumstances of the case and to verify the details mentioned in the testimonies.
