Former Davtashen District Head Ruslan Baghdasaryan Charged

The former head of the Davtashen administrative district, Ruslan Baghdasaryan, has been charged. Baghdasaryan is accused under Article 179, Part 3, Point 1 of the RA Criminal Code (large-scale embezzlement), Article 314 (official forgery), and Article 325, Part 2 (forgery of documents executed by a group of persons by prior agreement).

This information was confirmed in an interview with Gagik Abrahamyan, advisor to the Prosecutor General of Armenia, who indicated that the investigative body has submitted a motion to the court for Baghdasaryan’s arrest.

A few days ago, the Armenian police reported that according to currently available data, based on the verbal instructions of the former head of the administrative district, forged documents were compiled and signed for providing financial assistance to various employees of the community administration and residents of the district. As a result, more than 9,000,000 drams were embezzled between 2012 and 2014.

Investigative materials revealed that during his tenure from 2009 to 2018, various positions were formally issued in the former head's office, but the close associates of the former district head did not actually attend work. In cases where the duties stipulated by the orders and employment agreements were not fulfilled, a total salary amount of 41,720,929 drams was issued in their names, which was misappropriated.
