Turkey is Attacking from All Directions to Obstruct Senate Resolution Adoption: Suren Sargsyan
Trump proposed using the term "war" instead of "genocide". This was stated by Erdogan, quoting his conversation with Trump. Interestingly, Erdogan has responded that the two countries were not at war, but rather that Armenians were expelled from Turkey.
Regardless, Erdogan is heading to Washington. The bilateral agenda includes Syria, the Kurdish issue, the Incirlik airbase, the S400 systems issue, the potential sale of F35 fighter jets, as well as the resolutions adopted by the House of Representatives regarding genocide and sanctions against Turkey.
Turkey is attacking from all directions to prevent the Senate from adopting the resolution. In the Senate, Trump's team, the Republicans, hold the majority. Naturally, Erdogan has many offers for Trump in exchange for defeating the resolution, and although the Trump administration did not obstruct the resolution's adoption in the House of Representatives, the situation in the Senate will be quite different.
Now our community will fight on two fronts: against Turkish lobbying and the administration's pressure, which has already begun to show signs of activation.
