If I Know Why I Should Be Arrested, Let Them Arrest Me: Arthur Vanetsyan

Former NSS Director Arthur Vanetsyan currently sees no reason to resign from his position as President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA). In an interview with Factor.am, he stated, "I see no reason to resign from the FFA presidency. This is an elective position, and I was elected for a four-year term. In this past year, Armenian football has had noticeable successes. I will consider resigning if I am not satisfied with my work," he said.

He addressed the connection made between his name and the flower market near the Vazgen Sargsyan Stadium, noting, "For some reason, my name was linked to the flower market near the Vazgen Sargsyan Stadium. All the headlines started with my last name until the police issued a statement."

Regarding the spread of various types of news about him, he mentioned, "After my resignation and for some time before it, certain circles have been disseminating both true and untrue rumors about me, but there is not a single case where these rumors have been verified. If these rumors were true, I would not be here today; I would be a person with a status related to at least one criminal case. I have always said that the NSS has begun to be loved and trusted, and that has been my greatest achievement as NSS Director. The NSS has become a friend of the people."

The former NSS Director also commented on the investigations conducted by the SSA regarding the PSU. "I officially declare that I am ready to assist any law enforcement agency in verifying any information related to me. I have no doubt that during my term at the NSS, there were any violations. I have not committed any violations; I have served honestly and honorably."

In response to a claim by CivilNet that after the revolution, there was a change in the ownership of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine (ZCMC), which is linked to the sons of Vanetsyan's uncle, he responded, "If there is evidence that during my activity there were violations of laws or that I influenced any process by abusing my official position, I am ready to cooperate with law enforcement and provide complete information. Regarding the specific case, my family members and I are not shareholders of ZCMC. I cannot answer on behalf of all Vanetsyans; I can clearly state that I, my wife, my children, my father, and my mother have no connection to that combine. I also deny any connection of my uncle's sons to ZCMC; I am not aware that they have shares there."

Arthur Vanetsyan also addressed the possibility of his arrest. "For what reason should I be arrested? If I knew why I should be arrested, let them arrest me. I have not done anything illegal. I have not done anything I would be ashamed of."
