VIDEO: The Appointment of National Team Coaches is Reserved for the President of the Football Federation, Vanetsyan

“There has been no issue, no earthquake; it just turned out that the noise got very loud, and the public’s attention was drawn to this issue,” said Arthur Vanetsyan, the President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA), during a press conference discussing the heated debates surrounding the appointment of the national football team’s head coach.

Vanetsyan noted that there was a clear legal case, after which an internal investigation was initiated within the federation. He promised that the relevant officials would answer those questions and appropriate actions would be taken against them.

“On June 26, our regular general assembly took place, during which the new statute of the FFA was approved. According to this statute, the appointment of all national team coaches is reserved for the President of the FFA; that decision is made by the President of the FFA. Subsequently, it was supposed to be entered into the state register of the Ministry of Justice to receive state registration. For some reasons, this statute has been entered only on October 25, and 10 working days are required for it to be registered officially. Formally, the approval of this statute is expected tomorrow; that is when the 10-day period expires. On that day, I was presented with the issue of appointing a new coach, and it was not communicated to me that it had not yet received registration,” he said.

Vanetsyan emphasized that a technical error was made by an employee, and regarding the noise raised, he stated that it was inappropriate. The issue has been resolved, and today we have a head coach.
