Serious Action Required from Georgian Law Enforcement: Shirak Torosyan

MP Shirak Torosyan from the My Step faction of the National Assembly wrote on his Facebook page: “Dear compatriots, recently we learned with sadness that since April of this year, acts of vandalism have been recorded for the second time at the sacred site known as the Monk’s Monastery near Akhalkalaki. It is hard to imagine that anyone living in Javakheti could commit such desecration. However, evil has no nationality or religion, and unfortunately, it can exist among us as well. Given that the crime has repeated for the second time, it becomes clear that it is being committed deliberately. Who could have such an intention if not the foreign elements roaming in Javakheti?”

“Yes, dear compatriots, the dangerous existence of casinos and shadowy public houses in Javakheti must be raised again and again, as they serve as a ‘wonderful’ motive for malevolent foreigners to be present in Javakheti and commit misdeeds. This, of course, is a supposition, but it is quite plausible. Therefore, the Georgian law enforcement agencies have serious work to do here. Failing to uncover this repeat criminal act will create an atmosphere of impunity, leading to similar crimes, undermine the sense of security among the local population, and diminish the credibility of state bodies among the populace. If our assumption is correct, then this becomes an issue of national and state security.”
