The Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sports of the National Assembly, Mkhtiar Hayrapetyan, writes on his Facebook page:
“Dear citizens who have written letters to me regarding the identified abuses at Yerevan State University, I report that a few days ago I officially contacted Argishti Kyaramyan, the acting head of the State Supervisory Service of Armenia, to obtain information about the findings of the study conducted at the Yerevan State University Foundation. The summarized report has been submitted to the Prime Minister of Armenia in accordance with the procedures established by the Law on the State Supervisory Service, after which it was forwarded to the Prosecutor General’s Office and a criminal case was initiated.
Subsequently, I established contact with the President of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Hayk Grigoryan, and learned that an expert examination has been appointed, the results of which, according to Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, are not subject to publication. I want to state that within the scope of the powers entrusted to me by law, I will be persistent in obtaining information about the progress of the case and will share it with the public if necessary,” the parliament member wrote.
