Araiik, We Have Bought a Metro Token for You: Indefinite Sit-in Protest in Front of the Ministry of Education
Members of the Armenian Youth Federation and students from Yerevan State University have begun an indefinite sit-in protest in front of the Ministry of Education, calling for the resignation of Minister Araik Harutyunyan.
"Araik, we have bought a metro token for you, come down, go home," the protesters declared, presumably referring to the minister arriving at work by metro.
It should be noted that the students' protest is triggered by a draft law proposed by the Ministry, which would make the teaching of Armenian language, Armenian history, and Armenian literature in universities non-mandatory.
Moreover, the protest by the Youth Federation is based on the government's sponsorship of the film 'Mel' and the performance 'Excitement and Ring.' According to the protestors, they will not retreat from their demands and will do everything possible to achieve Araik Harutyunyan's resignation.
