Kanaker-Zeytun Police Uncover Theft Incidents, Identifying Suspect
On October 3, a report was received at the Kanaker-Zeytun Police Division regarding theft. A woman's wallet had been secretly stolen from a store, containing her passport, cash, and bank and discount cards. Days later, another report was filed at the division. In this case, a wallet was stolen from a convenience store, which contained a bank card and 60,000 drams.
Thanks to the joint efforts of Kanaker-Zeytun’s criminal investigators and community police, it became clear that the same individual committed both thefts. Soon, his identity was also uncovered. A 42-year-old man from Yerevan was found on November 4 on Abovyan Street in the capital and was taken to the division under suspicion, where he provided a confession.
According to currently known details of the investigation, the detained individual had also committed personal property thefts in other administrative areas of the capital. Measures are being taken to clarify the circumstances of these incidents and to identify the affected individuals. The investigation is ongoing.
