We have a sharp and significant decrease in border tension: Pashinyan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted a sharp decrease in tension at the border over the past 1.5 years. He made this statement during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

“Overall, the situation we have in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations always contains risks, but I want to say that these risks today are not greater than they were, for instance, 3, 4, or 5 years ago. If we monitor the border situation now, the degree of tension has shown a very sharp and significant reduction in the past 1.5 years, and this decline occurred in the context of the well-known discussions in Dushanbe,” Pashinyan said.

The Armenian Prime Minister also noted that there is interesting dynamics in the resolution process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “Unfortunately, the tension, in general, is at a much lower level, but it continues, and sadly, we still have casualties today. No one is saying that we have achieved a peaceful resolution to the Karabakh issue, but on the other hand, I believe there is quite interesting dynamics in the negotiation process, and I am optimistic that it will develop,” Pashinyan added.
