VIDEO: People in Batumi Forced to Evacuate via Inflatable Boats Due to Heavy Rain

Rescue teams in Batumi were forced to work throughout the night due to torrential rains that struck the region, as reported by the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs Emergency Management Service.

The heavy rainfall caused the Mejinistskali River to overflow, flooding streets in the outskirts of the city. Most calls for assistance came from residents of high-rise buildings on the ground floor, whose apartments were inundated with rainwater.

Throughout the night, rescuers provided help to residents using inflatable boats. The heavy rains also resulted in two landslides in Adjara and damaged one bridge. No casualties have been reported so far.

Currently, the rain has stopped in Adjara, and the weather has cleared up. Efforts to drain water from residential areas continue in various locales.
