Incorrect Information is Being Spread, My Brother's Condition Remains Extremely Critical - Karen Mkrtchyan
Colonel Ara Mkrtchyan, who was beaten by a group of people in Vayots Dzor on September 17, has not come out of either coma or critical condition. His condition continues to remain extremely critical. This was asserted by the victim’s brother, Karen Mkrtchyan, in a conversation with Tert.am:
“Very incorrect information is being spread; Ara is in a coma, have they personally seen Ara to say such things? He is lying in extremely critical condition; we would be very happy if what they say were true—that he had come out of the coma, but that is not the case. You can write that incorrect information is being spread; there is no such thing. One of his eyes opens and closes reflexively under the influence of medication. The doctors also say that he may come out of the coma over time,” he noted.
Regarding the ongoing criminal case, Karen Mkrtchyan said that until he sees the final results, he cannot say anything.
It is worth recalling that in a previous conversation with Tert.am, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, had stated that the lieutenant colonel had come out of critical condition.
“He has some light positive movements, but his condition remains serious. He has just come out of that critical state; a stage has changed, but it is not that he has normal consciousness or can communicate,” said Hovhannisyan.
Recall that on the night of September 18 in the town of Yeghegnadzor, Vayots Dzor province, Deputy Colonel Ara Mkrtchyan was beaten. In connection with the initiated criminal case, the former governor Trdat Sargsyan's assistant and his brother Harutyun Grigoryan have been arrested. The question of the governor's possible participation in the case was also being examined.
On October 30, the head of the Investigative Committee, Hayk Grigoryan, announced that four servicemen insist that the governor was present at the scene, but we also have a video camera installed in front of the governor's building, according to which he entered the building at 22:30 and exited at 00:30. On the other hand, the servicemen have also insisted that the governor was there.
