Alik Sargsyan: Gevorg Kostanyan Did Not Give Me Any Instructions, He Couldn’t Have Done So
According to Hayeli.am, referencing the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, former police chief Alik Sargsyan has stated in an interview that over a month after the charges were brought against him in the March 1 case, he has received no news from the investigative body. He mentioned that the purpose of these actions was to create a spectacle and to ensure that he does not leave the country.
“Just as they caught me that day, they summoned me and humiliated me. Today I was asked to sign a non-leaving statement. They knew I was going to a wedding in the morning. I was just the godfather of a wedding with 1,200 guests, no more, no less; the groom is a world champion, with normal people around,” said the former police chief.
Commenting on the information published by the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper that the criminal case was initiated following the testimony of his former colleague, Hovhannes Tamamyan, and that Tamamyan was given a less severe charge, Alik Sargsyan stated: “I am deliberately not in contact with anyone, I don’t even talk on the phone.”
Addressing the issue of instructions mentioned in the charges, Alik Sargsyan remarked: “Serzh Sargsyan, the president of the country, did not give me any instructions, how could Gevorg Kostanyan tell me to change this document, do this or that, even if he did say so?”
