VIDEO: 'Kalashnikov', grenades, and other illegal weapons handed over to police departments

Thanks to the explanatory work of police officers, cases of voluntary surrender of illegally held weapons and ammunition have been recorded in territorial subdivisions.

According to the information from the press service of the RA Police, a 48-year-old man from Artashat voluntarily surrendered a 'Kalashnikov' assault rifle with its factory number erased, a grenade with a detonator, magazines for the rifle, and various caliber cartridges. He stated that these belonged to his deceased brother.

A 59-year-old man from the village of Movses also brought an illegal rifle and various caliber cartridges to the Tavush Police Department, claiming that they belonged to his grandfather.

A 79-year-old woman who came to the Central Police Department voluntarily surrendered a firearm with a factory number, which she claimed belonged to her deceased father.

Expert forensic examinations have been appointed. The police remind that those who voluntarily surrender illegally held weapons and ammunition are exempt from criminal liability.
