Mouflons Killed: Second Incident of Dog Intrusion at Zoo
On November 1, at around 06:00 AM, the second incident of stray dogs intruding into the Yerevan Zoo was registered. This was reported by the Yerevan Zoo staff.
A pack attacked three mouflons (two males and one female) kept in the zoo, resulting in the death of the animals. The dogs could not be caught.
According to Yerevan Zoo staff, the pack that entered the zoo is likely the same group that attacked kangaroos the day before, on October 31. It is important to note that three pups from this pack were successfully captured from the kangaroo enclosure and transferred to the Stray Dog Neutralization Organization.
The Yerevan Zoo warns about the dangers posed by the presence of an unsterilized and dangerous pack of dogs in the city of Yerevan, which is also a public safety concern, since dogs that have already hunted animals are dangerous to both wildlife and humans.
The zoo appeals to the relevant authorities to urgently locate and neutralize this pack of dogs, considering the urgency of the situation and the importance of ensuring public safety. They have also contacted law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia to exclude any human factors related to the dogs' intrusion and to initiate a preliminary investigation.
