It Is Not A Bill, Therefore It Does Not Include Sanctions: Cavusoglu on the Genocide Resolution
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has stated that they will take countermeasures against the adoption of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives.
As reported by Ermenihaber, in an interview with the pro-government newspaper 'Akşam', Çavuşoğlu specifically mentioned: “Some politicians and media are using the term ‘bill’ regarding the Armenian proposal (the resolution). This is not a bill, therefore it does not include sanctions. This has also been confirmed by the U.S. authorities. It is wrong to stop our dialogue with the United States, but we will also take certain steps. We have informed the U.S. ambassador.”
It should be noted that the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide on October 29, along with a bill proposing sanctions against Turkey due to military operations in northeastern Syria.
