First and Second Childbirth One-Time Allowance to Increase 6 and 2 Times
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan spoke at the National Assembly about a program to support citizens living in extreme poverty while presenting the 2020 budget:
“We have made a very important decision regarding support for citizens living in extreme poverty, those citizens who did not have a registered address, extremely impoverished people who lacked addresses and were deprived of the opportunity to apply for this support. We have now removed this obstacle, and citizens can register at the address of territorial support centers and receive assistance; we have resolved the paperwork issues,” she said.
She also discussed demographic programs, noting that work is underway in that direction, and additions are planned. From July next year, the amount of both one-time and monthly support provided for childbirth will increase:
“From July 1, we plan to raise the care for children under two years from 18,000 to 25,500 drams. The program's funding will increase by 1 billion drams, and the one-time childbirth allowance for the first and second children will rise from 50,000 and 150,000 drams to 300,000 drams. The additional funding for this program amounts to 2.5 billion drams,” she presented.
