Romanos Petrosyan, the Governor, Seeks Early Elections; His Candidate is Known as 'Lenankanzi Vagho'
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports that Kotayk Governor Romanos Petrosyan aims to initiate new elections in Yeghvard, despite the fact that five communities merged into Yeghvard two years ago, and a mayoral election already took place, with the next one scheduled for 2022.
Local residents claim that there will be early elections next year. The candidate is best known among locals as 'Lenankanzi Vagho'. Before the elections, Petrosyan plans to change the directors of the community hospital and sports school to ensure they work in favor of his candidate.
Two options for early elections are being discussed: either to compel the current mayor to submit a resignation or to pursue another round of consolidation. The current mayor of Yeghvard, Norayr Sargsyan, stated that he has a working relationship with the governor and is unaware of any new election plans. 'I don't know if the consolidated community will be consolidated again for a new election,' he responded to the question.
When we mentioned the name of the potential successor, he requested that we not continue the conversation.
