‘Haykakan Jamanak’. ‘Many of us want the October 27 case to be reopened, but we share Aram’s opinion’
‘Haykakan Jamanak’ reports: After the commemoration ceremony for the victims on October 27 in the National Assembly yard, the relatives of the victims were invited for tea by ‘the higher-ups.’ Since Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was attending the event, it was assumed that he was the one inviting them. They thought that not delivering a message on the 20th anniversary and not organizing an event was compensated by this invitation.
However, it turned out that only the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, participated in the ‘tea gathering.’ He stated that Pashinyan had gone to a different place regarding the case. ‘We thought he might have gone to Yerablur or the Pantheon. But we really wanted him to come, we wanted to talk and know if the October 27 case would be reopened or not,’ said one of our interviewees. The families of the victims, apart from the Sargsyans, also wish for the case to be reopened. Aram believes that in the current political situation, an impartial investigation is impossible. ‘Many of us want the case to be reopened, but we share Aram’s opinion,’ they stated.
Following the ‘tea gathering,’ they learned that only Davit Tonoyan and Sassoun Mikayelyan visited Yerablur, while nobody from the government or ‘My Step’ faction visited the Pantheon at all.
